After focusing intensely for a deadline, it can be strange to emerge and realise you don’t need to do that thing anymore, at least for a while - like when your eyes adjust to new light.
I’ve just finished my exams for the second year of uni! After a solid couple of weeks spent staring at a computer screen, reading and writing thousands of words, I feel like I’m rediscovering the world around me again… here’s a leaf, here’s a warm hot chocolate, here’s eight hours of sleep😂 Readjusting and relaxing isn’t always possible if things are always busy, so I’m appreciating every second of the time, even as I look forward to diving back into projects!
It can also be disorientating - what do I continue first? Where do I begin? What’s my priority? I have an audio project that’s my main focus first of all, then it’s my book, and a couple of art concepts I’m drawing up for friends.
How exciting, to be able to choose.
For now, though, I’m sipping a cup of tea and watching the making of Lord of the Rings. I started watching it during lockdown, but got a couple of hours in and then never got back to it! Now, I’m allowing myself that luxury, and already I’m feeling so inspired by it. I love watching the behind-the-scenes of films - it’s real magic in action!
I hope you can find some time to relax this week, and return to things that make you feel calm and inspired.
Best wishes,
Katie :)
What’s inspiring you this week? What are you doing to relax?
Glad you're getting to relax after your exams, Katie. This post felt so cosy, especially the LotR documentary. Took me back to obsessively watching it (and the films) when they came out on DVD!!
